Course Introduction
Welcome to the Texas DPS 8-Hour Continuing Education Course for Security Managers and Owners.
This course is designed to meet the continuing education requirements established by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Private Security Bureau under TAC § 35.161 and Occupations Code Chapter 1702. It provides seven (7) hours of instruction in security-related subject matter and one (1) hour in ethics, with a focus on the responsibilities of managers and owners of licensed security companies.
The role of management in private security goes far beyond supervising guards. Owners and managers are legally and professionally accountable for compliance, officer conduct, and service quality. The decisions made at the management level directly affect client satisfaction, employee performance, and the company’s regulatory standing.
